Beauty In The Ruins: Georgian Silver and Diamond Earring
I found this late Georgian era earring in the very first bag of broken jewellery I ever bought (technically it was a mason jar, but let’s not get hung up on details). I kept it because it looked very old. The stones are table cut and were cast into the silver setting. Later, when I took a silversmithing course, I learned that this kind of setting could only be done with diamonds and sapphires because they are the only stones hard enough to withstand the heat.
It’s missing its mate and many of its stones, but I still like having it around.
