Midweek Modness: Robert Larin Brooch
One of my favourite things about the Junction Flea is socializing. Basically the jewels on the Gracious Good table lure like-minded vintage jewellery fans in so I can look at their favourite baubles.
I also got to meet some Gracious Good readers in person. I was especially happy to be introduced to Elaine, because she had this amazing Robert Larin brooch and she let me take a picture of her wearing it for the blog. Mr. Andrew and I had just been talking about all the people who would pick up a pretty pin, and then bemoan the fact that wearing brooches was becoming a lost art (I myself can never seem to make them work). I also loved how the bright blue and soft tie-dye of the fabric provided a nice balance to the brutalism of Larin’s work.
Thanks again Elaine, meeting you made my day! Here’s a closeup of the brooch.

Hi Rhonda. It was so nice to meet you at the Junction Flea Market last weekend. The whole event made me feel transported to Hell’s Kitchen in NYC. Hope your day was successful. My friends and I all came home with some new treasures.
Your blog is always great to check in on. Thanks for posting me and my brooch- I got my 15 minutes of fame.
Hope to see you again- maybe with something else interesting to share with you.
Elaine
I’m so glad you stopped by to say hi. And Now I’m curious about what treasures you found!
Hi’ Rhonda. I was on holiday last week so it’s hard to get back to normal life. At the Junction Flea Market I found some cool mid century household items- drinking glasses from Italy. a Danish glass ice bucket, circa 1970’s and a handmade Canadian enamel bowl. For myself I found a lovely white with black polka dots vintage silk scarf from Simpsons. It was definitely worth the trip to the Junction.
Since then I went to an antique sale in Bobcaygeon that had lots of beautiful collectibles.
Hope you’ve had happy hunting.
Elaine
Sounds like you’ve had some happy hunting!
