Midweek Modness: Meissen Pop Poster
Found this beat up Belgian traffic safety poster on the sidewalk last week. It’s actually part of a portfolio of 24 prints, commissioned by the Belgian Via Secura agency and illustrated by artist René Miessen (1911 – 2000). Miessen was an interesting character — at the age of 45 after a very successful career in advertising, he moved to Paris to pursue a career as a symbolist painter under the name Bellor.
Even though this poster is a little on the rough side, I had to save it. I love the pop colour scheme. I’m also a bit of a transit nerd and a rule rebel. Mr. Andrew approves because it has a bike on it.
