Akuaba Fertility Dolls
I was in Kitchener visiting my mom on the weekend and visited the Value Village there and was delighted to discover these two figures.
They are Ashanti Akuaba carvings from Ghana. I have come across many of these fantastic fertility dolls in my day but never two together. They are also decorated with cowrie shells which the internet says represents money, so these figures would have been intend to attract not just babies but prosperity as well.
These sculptures always sell well and having a set would be a solid start for a collection. I will be listing this pair in my Earnestine ArtEtsy ship.
