I’m Late! I’m Late!

I’ve not only fallen behind in posting in general, I’m backlogged in posting about my recent watch acquisitions. There are a lot so today I’m just going to wrote about modern timepieces what I got in 2026. And I’m gonna keep it brief because there are a lot.

The coolest watch is probably the Donut Watch Company Jelly. This limited edition — the brand’s first release — was gifted to journalists, influencers and other horological tastemakers. Donut is a Chinese watchmaker with ties to the haute horology indie Ming. The timepiece shared some signatures with Ming, namely the fancy lugs and iconoclastic dial. I like it very much and need to do a longer review, but I keep discovering new things about it every day.

Another new watch that doesn’t look like anything else on the market is this Terra field watch by the Delhi Watch Company. This limited edition was designed to celebrate the brand’s fifth anniversary. The first iteration of this caribiner looking timepiece was made of titanium and sold out almost immediately (did I mention that it costs only $65 USD?). I ordered this stainless steel version when DWC did a second drop in July. That presale arrived three months later. Again, I like it because it doesn’t look like anything else on the market.

Even rarer is this one-of-a-kind Swatch. The brand invited local watch writers and content providers to an event where we could create pièce unique timepieces using the AI Dada platform. I was stuck when it came to coming up with prompts so I just entered the word “blueberries” and the program came up with this Marimekko-type pattern. I like it because it doesn’t look like anything else.

Mr. Andrew found this working, no name field watch on the sidewalk. It looks very much like a field watch.

Went to the Toronto Timepiece show. It has become something of a tradition for me to buy a Farr and Swit digital watch. This is my third and it’s called the Gamer 8 Bit.

I had long wanted a this Vero Forest Edition field watch because it is green and doesn’t look like anything else out there (and it was designed by my friend Matt aka Teenage Grandpa). While I couldn’t afford it when it first launched in 2024, Vero had a friends and family sale this year so I snapped it up.

And finally, another customized pièce. Flik Flak gifted me a watch with my name embroidered on the band. It also has pseudo field watch numbering. So if you were to make a snapshot of my 2026 watches, you might assume that I like field watches that don’t look like anything else.
