September Birthstone: Sapphire

If you were born in September, your birthstone is the sapphire. The sapphire is the second hardest (after the diamond) stone on the Mohs Scale. Worn as a talisman, it is said to protect against the evil eye. My personal favourite kind of sapphire is the star sapphire. The ring pictured above is most likely a synthetic stone, but I still like to watch its pretty rays dance around.
