Midweek Modness: Dansk Candle Story
Look what I found in the basement! It’s three sets of Dansk tapered candles that I bought at a thrift shop decade ago, hoping to one day come across a Dansk candle holder like the one my parent’s had in the 1960s. As I recall, my mom also had a stash of these in the basement long after the candle holder got lost or sold. I have a brief recollection that they were all broken (the tapers are so very fragile due to their slenderness) or warped. But the boxes were so cool!
Fast forward to a few months ago, when I finally found a Jens Quistgaard designed candleholder. Of course, I could not find any candles that would fit in it. So I gave up and listed it in the Gracious Good Etsy shop. Because I had, of course, forgotten all about the candles in my basement.
Now the candles have been uncovered (again). Of course, many of them are broken (because of the skinniness). And as soon as the good ones have run out, I’ll be back in the same, taper-less position I was before. But for the time being I’ll worry less about the future and instead bask in the cosmic candle/candelabra equilibrium that is the now.
