Secondhand September
I’ve made a few short sorties to a few thrift shops in the last week. I just felt compelled even though it is against my better judgement (just because the stores are open, is it really smart to go shopping in a global pandemic during a recession?)
The urge to hunt proved too strong, although the actual experiences were pretty stressful. Still there was some payoff. I finally found a pair of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen dolls (I’ve had an idea of making a tiny wardrobe of the Row clothes to dress and photograph them in). I also came across a bunch of wooden goods, including a made in Canada scissor holder, a Scottish shoe last, an Indonesian demon figure and a souvenir of Australia boomerang.
My favourite finds were this Venezuelan tapestry made by the indigenous Wayuu people and a folksy pink bunny wall hanging.
