Where to Get Stuff Fixed

Today I am so happy! I have found my Russians! They had simply moved. So I thought I’d give them a shout out by making a list of my favourite jewellery repair peeps.

The most important thing to remember when having jewellery fixed is to always ask if repairs are done on the premises. If the answer is no, they are just sending it out to someone else and charging you double the cost (and time) for the repairs.

For simple silver repairs like soldering, I like any of the Vietnamese places in Parkdale. They’re cheap and fast.

For more complex remodelling jobs, try Organic Metal Gallery on College or Made You Look on Queen West.

For antique repairs and restoration, I’ve had great results from 18Karat Jewellers in The Grange and Fidea Jewellers on Yonge. Fidea is especially good at sourcing replacement stones for old jewels and they have a crazy collection of new old stock watches and jewellery from the 70s. Most importantly, the Russians: Alex Elegant on Church (call first). They taught me everything I know about fine jewellery and are especially expert in Art Deco pieces.
