Golden Globes Girls: Mamet, Dunham and Williams
The 2013 Golden Globes show was fun — hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were great, the show ran on time and there were just enough unpredictable moments to keep you interested. The clothes, however, were not great. That’s why I love this backstage picture of Girls stars Zoisa Mamet, Lena Dunham and Allison Williams. I think their ensembles complemented them fantastically.
Zosia Mamet’s black leather gown by Tony Ward Couture had just enough elegance and edge to play up her striking features without making her look severe. Diamonds were big at the GGs this year, and Mamet sparkled in Norman Silverman studs and stackable rings.
Zac Posen used to babysit Lena Dunham. On Sunday, he dressed her in a flattering satin number — the gown was wonderfully constructed but still let Dunham look like Dunham.
And finally, Allison Williams wore J. Mendel and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, including diamond and coral earrings and a platinum, diamond and conch pearl ring. Williams’ accesories were my favourites of the evening — the peachy colour of the conch pearls was perfect for such a young radiant talent. I loved seeing these three young women get all fancy without being so overstyled that you couldn’t recognize them.
