Style Nostalgia
It’s my birthday so I thought I’d indulge myself in a trip down fashion memory lane. Above is a picture of me in Montreal in the late eighties. I still love over-sized blazers worn over jean jackets, opaque black tights and slip on shoes. I also have super fond memories of that particular double knit skirt. It had been a 1960s maxi skirt with amazing orange and green polka dots that belonged to my friend Angela’s aunt. I hacked it off to make it a mini, which was maybe not the best idea during a freakin’ cold Montreal winter. But I loved it!
And here I am as a fly girl in Florida in 1990. The floral print dress and horn-rimmed hipster glasses would be a passable look today. I’m not so sure about the Flavor Flav clock.
And here I am on the roof of Galeries Lafayette in Paris in the early 1990s. This is probably the best hair I have in any pictures. I still adore cottony tunics with batik and other prints. IN fact, I would still wear any of these outfits today (though I still need to work out my coiffure). It’s funny looking back to see how little one’s basic style has changed.
Also, if anybody out there could make me that thin again, I would reward them with jewels aplenty.
