My Parent’s Art
I was in Kitchener visiting the parents for Easter. As I have mentioned before, my folks instilled the collecting fever in me, taking me to antique and craft boutiques when I was a wee girl. They are also fans of Inuit art and picked up the pieces pictured above and below from a gallery in St. John’s in the 1970s.
My mom has the original boxes somewhere. Next time I’m in town I’ll have to root through the curio cabinet to find out where exactly the paper work is. Unfortunately, these narwhals got damaged along the way. My mom still has their tusks taped to the bone stand. One day we’ll get them restored.
My dad is also a good thrift shop hunter and he found this soapstone seal at the MCC in KW. The base is broken, but it’s still pretty good I think.
