Woven silver rings

This is my much abused, middle-aged hand in all it’s nail-bitten glory. Look closely and you’ll see spots where I banged my hand while making jewellery or gave myself the old fingernail torture trying to pry back a piece of metal. Clearly, I will never be a hand model, but they can weave a story or two. So today I honour them by wearing some woven rings. There’s a Tiffany and Co. Somerset-style mesh ring that I got for $2 bucks at the St. Lawrence market. There’s an unmarked Victorian band that I adore (I don’t know what it’s made of, but it doesn’t turn my finger green nor has my corrosive skin worn away any obvious plating). And there’s another favourite — a silver basket weave set with a turquoise by a mid-century Polish collective known as ORO.
