Hamilton Times Part 4: Klassy T-Shirt Rock Museum
Next to the theatre where Mr. Andrew’s play was being performed sits the Klassy T-Shirt Rock Museum. It truly was a reliquary of ancient music and fashion memorabilia. Essentially, it was an old school, iron on t-shirt enterprise. There were plenty of current designs, mostly featuring wolves and tigers, but there was also a treasure trove of new old stock decals. Our friend Veronika found a 1970s baseball shirt with Shaun Cassidy on it. I opted for two Tom Petty tees.
I was immediately transported to my teenhood as soon as I tried the “Damn the Torpedoes” shirt on. The sticky tackiness of the glittery vinyl decal. The tight neck opening and beefy weight of the jersey fabric. I was also delighted to know that the material will only get softer with repeated washings (although the iron on would slowly fade and crack with wear).
