The First Watch of 2016

tissot rockwatch

I went to the St. Lawrence Antique Market last Sunday to shake off the post-Holiday sloth cycle of eating and watching movies. Not two minutes into my visit, I found a vendor selling a Tissot Rock Watch, which has always been one of my grail timepieces because of its innovative design and because of my rock hound tendencies and nostalgia for the 1980s.

The first market of the year is always good for bargains because the dealers are trying to get rid of old inventory. This vendor said normally he’d want $150 for the Tissot, but today he was asking for $75. It seemed like  super deal because I am always on the hunt for a Rock Watch — especially a version made from Swiss granite — and have never actually seen one at a flea market before. But still, my budget for the day was $20. I decided to take a stroll and think about it. And about ten tables down I found this Tissot Rock Watch for $45. Still outside my budget, but it seemed like a sign.

So there you go, one more piece crossed off the grail list.
