Achievement Uncapped

Knocked another project off my to do list (sort of).

Ever since I saw the movie “Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen” I have wanted to recreate Lindsay Lohan’s Botttle Cap necklace. Yes, the movie is like a million years old and I’ve had plenty of opportunity to make one, but I also have a million other projects to complete. Cut me some slack.

Anyway, when we were in Denmark for Mr. Andrew’s nephew’s wedding, I collected a bunch of colourful bottle caps which helped move the project to the top of my to-do list. And yes, I realize that the wedding was in August and it’s November now. Get off my back!

I tried to bring the cap necklace to life before now, I really did. But I lacked the tools to make holes in the metal (the internet said I could use a thumbtack or a mail to pierce the disks but the internet lied). What I needed was a tiny metal punch. I finally dragged myself to Michael’s to buy the proper supplies on Thursday. Then I sat myself down with the most recent episode of Drag Race UK and got to work.

This is my first attempt. A prototype that I eye balled from looking at a still from the film. First of all, in the picture it looks like they used ball chain to make the necklace but I couldn’t figure out how it would fit through the holes. I went with links instead but I didn’t buy enough chain so there should have been more, longer fringes. I also put holes where no holes ought to be. And next time I’ll do a better job of pre-measuring the swags.

I will tweak this one and then take it apart to make a template. I am excited that I have so many bottle caps that I could make a necklace for almost any outfit.
