Where Did I Leave Off?

The death of our kitty plus family chaos has left me unmotivated. It’s taking all my energy just to get paying jobs finished. I didn’t even have the gumption to succumb to retail therapy. But I ordered a new strap for my vintage Wittnauer before things went downhill and it arrived in the mail shortly thereafter.
This 1970s chunk of funk is my first exotic dial watch. Sure I have a few faux tigers eye models but this one is a slice of lacquered burled wood with gold printed numerals. I got it when I went to York, Pennsylvania when I went to speak at the NAWCC convention. My presentation was on women and watches. The convention also hosted a sort of horological flea market where I bought the watch. It seemed like a very good souvenir because
Wittnauer was an American watchmaker founded in 1885 in New Rochelle, New York. Although they were based in the US, they used Swiss movements. And, in 1916, Martha Wittnauer became the first female CEO of a watch brand.
It was set on a busted green faux reptile strap when I got it. I liked the way the green looked with the wood dial so I wanted something similar. I found it from StrapsCo — a Canadian company that I met at the Toronto Timepiece Show. I was very pleased.

Speaking of new watches, I recently came into two tiny Bulova’s with green dials. One was from a swap with my friend Sarah last month , the other a score from the Value Village last week. I like the green brown pairing of the Wittnauer so much that I’m thinking of placing another order with StrapsCo — this time for a honey brown strap.
