How I Stumbled Upon A Blogger Event

Gap Fall 2012 Lookbook

To cut a long story short, I found myself at the Eaton Centre yesterday in search of pair of (hopefully) on sale flip flops. At the Gap, there was some kind of event thing happening. I could tell because there were people with clip boards and wristbands asking me if I was there for the event. “Sure,” I said and went in. Turns out it the Gap has partnered with the street style website to create something called “the blogger look” using the retail giant’s fall collection.

I already knew that this look is a thing, because I bought a ring on eBay whose description was “Lapis Blogger Style Ring.” I also know that involves big bags, stacks of bracelets, statement necklaces, crazy shoes and other accessories. I like accessorizing and I have a blog, so generally I approve of the spirit of this style. Plus, I already have a blazer like the one before (well, I gave it to my niece Sarah, but I could always borrow it back).

You knew the event was aimed at the Tumblr crowd because they were also doing nail art.

Called the “Icon Redefined” collection, the Gap’s fall clothes reinterpret classics like the schoolboy blazer, button down shirt and pullovers with elbow patches, but reinterpret them with bright colours and bold patterns. In much the same way that the street style kids remix vintage and designer pieces with oversized accessories. If I could’ve picked up only one thing from the store last night, however, it would have been this relatively subtle big green tote.
