Midweek Modness: Spoon Man
Upcycling is not a new thing. I remember going to craft shows in the 1970s and the hippies were always making rings out of old spoons and forks and the high school girls were always buying them. I even recall that when my mom sold Avon for a spell. the catalogue advertised new rings tat looked like they were made out of old cutlery.
But some artisans went a step further and embellished their tableware jewellery. I found this ring in KW on the weekend and it has been rehammered for texture, and has metal squiggles and a bit of mother of pearl set into it. It actually took me an hour to figure out that it had started out life as silverware.
It’s not signed but it a really striking ring.
