Freebie Friday: Benched
On Wednesday, our neighbour Anda knocked on our door to tell us that there was a cool bench or side table sitting on the sidewalk up the street and that she thought that I might like to rescue it. Apparently after only three months in the new neighbourhood, I’ve already acquired a reputation.
But you know what, she was right. I id like it. Even before we moved in I was looking for a piece that we could use as a bench in the wintertime so that we could sit and tie up our shoes. In my original plan, I was going to use our old coffee table as a bench, but it was too long and we are using it as our media centre instead. But this little guy fits in snugly outside of our hall closet/mudroom.
You can’t tell from this photo, but it’s quite pretty. It’s solid wood (although the top may be a replacement and is cracked), and the base tapers out quite elegantly in the front. It needs a bit of a tidy, but I quite like it. That being said, it is the last piece of furniture that I’m going to save from the sidewalk for a while. The house is full!
PS. I’ve started a new Tumblr blog dedicated to documenting just my sidewalk finds. It’s called Sidewalkfinder and you can check it out here.
