Eclectic Revival

I also acquired this Victorian Revival hinged bracelet set with a lovely shell cameo. Judging by the hairstyle of the lady on the carving, I reckon it dates from the 1930s.

While retro, this bangle summons up Gucci creative director Allesandro Michele’s eclectic style. I follow his instagram (@lallo25) and it’s full of beautiful artifacts (one writer called his feed an online wunderkammer or cabinet of curiosities). But his posts all share a reverence for old timey techniques, like cameo carving and filigree work.

He also likes to mix these pieces up, which I have also tried to do here with my vintage rings and even more ancient hands.
