Souvenirs From Miami
I was in Miami Beach last weekend for the Watches and Wonders watch show. Spending time in the warmth, hanging out with friends old and new and having some deep conversations about timepieces and more — it was a wonderful weekend.
I also got gifted a few fun things. And I picked up a few free things here and there. These are those things.
On the first night, I was invited to a cocktail party thrown by the FHH, the folks behind Watches and Wonders. Instead of the standard photo booth, they had an artist roaming through the crowd making sketches of attendees. This is my portrait. I like it a lot.
The next morning we went to the launch of the new Quasar watch from Girard Perregaux. At this event we were given a water bottle with a big quartz inside (so as to promote crystal energy). I like crystals, but I am more tempted to take this rock and turn it into a giant piece of jewelry.
A bunch of us journalists were put up at The Standard Spa. They had these matchboxes in the room. The drawing is by the artist Jeremyville. I can add them to our collection of tiny artist multiples.
And finally, I went to lunch at Swan with the marvellous Melissa DiSalvo from IWC. The company was grand, the kale salad terrific, I ate my first pavlova and when the bill came, it was presented in this cool money clip.
