Anatomy of a DIY

Here’s a dress I made last weekend. I made it from eight yea towels I picked up from IKEA last week. I went in to buy an ultra long apron I saw online that I intended to wear like a semi skirt (see below).

I spotted the tea towels at the check out and they reminded me of a dress that showed up on my algorithm that I had saved to my Pinterest boards.

“I can make that!” I said to myself. So I went home and stitched it up while I binge watched “The Bear.”

Here is a photo of the work in progress. It’s just eight rectangles sewn together.I wasn’t sure If I wanted to have it tis up from the front or back. I land I adapted the neckline so that the tie was a drawstring instead of just a bit of ribbon. The cotton linen fabric makes the dress feel very comfy during the heatwave we are currently enduring (45 degrees with the humidex yesterday). And I already got a compliment when I wore it out on Monday. The lady even recognized that the fabric was from IKEA.
