Face Time

Dollarama was selling a bunch of vases with faces on them. They had them in three colours. I bought the black version because it had the best expression, delicately carried it home on the subway and then immediately smashed it to pieces the minute I stepped through the door. The next day I travelled an hour to go back to the same Dollarama location but they were all sold out. I spent the next three days going from store to store until I finally found one in white. It’s okay. Most of my ceramics collection is white so it fits in.

Of course every Dollarama offers different delights. One was selling charm necklaces with a mix of coloured stones and enamelled objects including a set of lips and and an eye. What I did was to move all the gems to one necklace and the facial features to another. They can still be layers together, it just made more sense to have the representational charms together.

Soon I was seeing lips and eyes (and enamel) everywhere. I bought this paua shell ring on sale at Reitman’s last week. And the evil eye ring I picked up for $4 at Courage My Love yesterday. When I put them on together, I thought I saw a little face, so I added my Solange Azagury Partridge Lips Ring to complete the picture.

Please note, I have so many eye and lip themed clothing and jewellery. Maybe one day I’ll do a post cataloguing it all.
