I Found An Art: Wounded Loon

First let me say that the only reason I’ve been frequenting the Value Village and Salvation Army this week is to drop off donations. I am trying to be getting rid of things, not accquiring stuff. But I can’t help but poke around a little. Today I picked up this wonderful sculpture by Inuit artist Josie Nulukie (Inukjuak, 1931-1980). It is (I think) a dark green serpentine carving of a loon. It is signed in Roman and with the artist’s disc number.

Unfortunately it has been quite banged up, and part of the beak is broken off. But I’m sure she’ll be welcomed by the rest of the found art gang: Chopin, the Ptarmigan, Lounging Seal and Judgemental Bear.
