Morning Announcements: Introducing Covet Garden
Covet Garden is here!
About six months ago, I started working on a super awesome project with three incredible ladies: Lynda, Tiffany and Jessica. The idea was to do an online magazine about stuff we like. We spent a lot of time talking about what we wanted to do (and figuring out how to do it).
Here’s our mission statement:
“Covet Garden is for folks who are curious about real spaces. We take a peek into the homes and lives of some of the city’s most interesting people—spaces that have not been styled by interior decorators. Covet Garden is inspirational, not aspirational.”
Starting something up from scratch is amazing. I’m from the word-side of the magazine biz, and was pleased as punch to get to work with and meet so many amazing illustrators, photographers, designers and artists. I also got to hang out with a lot of pretty cool people with nicely appointed apartments and houses.
So much creativity has gone into this project. And, yes, lots of sweat and tears (we lost Tiffany, whose work in the early stages was crucial to getting us going). The budget was non-existent and we all had to scrabble around for money to pay our bills.
But it all came together. We hope you like it and will continue to like it. And we hope you will share Covet Garden with all your friends.
I personally want to thank Andrew for his support (both love and technical). Again, thanks to Tiffany. And thanks to Lynda and Jessica for teaching me so much about the world of shelter mags. Thanks to the folks that let us take pictures of their houses (starting with Julia And Ryan). And the folks who took the pictures — you guys are the best!
