Midweek Modness: Pentti Sarpaneva Pendant

Going back into the vaults for this image — It’s a Pentti Sarpaneva pendant which I sold a couple of years ago.

Sarpaneva started out as a graphic designer in his native Finland, but his jewellery was probably more influenced by his childhood in the countryside and his blacksmith father. The countryside inspired the organic look of his jewels, the process of metalurgy influenced his decision to use casting as well as hammered finishes.

I found this necklace at the Christie Antiques Show, which is on this weekend. Maybe I’ll get lucky again.
