Midweek Modness: Timo Sarpaneva Pot
The reason I wandered into the MoMA shop in the first place was to gawk at the selection of housewares featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern art. Like this 3-Quart Cast Iron Casserole with Wooden Handle designed by the Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva. Influenced by Japanese cooking pots, Sarpaneva introduced this design in 1959. It is so iconic that the Finns put it on a postage stamp in 1998.
