Midweek Modness: Kultaseppa Salovaara

I came across this pretty pendant when I was visiting my ma on Monday. I popped into a few local thrift shops whilst waiting for my bus back to Toronto. It was hanging on the wall, tangled up with the cheap costume jewellery. Its distinctly Scandinavian look stood out so I nabbed it.

Its marked 925, set with faceted smokey Quartz and is signed with the Polar Bear mark for Kultaseppa Salovaara, Turku, Finland. My research would indicate that while never considered to be at the cutting edge of Finnish jewellery design, the company  produced well made and au courant pieces. Sadly, I’ve been unable to uncover names of designers who worked for Kultaseppa Salovaara .
