April Fool: Some Old Finds That I Got Wrong

Did a little more research on some recent finds (informally, I visited some dealers) and just wanted to provide an update:

The brooch pictured above is a real pink topaz, but alas, not real gold. And I thought it was Georgian but the dealers would categorize it as Rococo Revival (I had guessed that it was from around 1840, and that seems to be the consensus). The brooch conversion pendant pictured below is also Rococo revival. I thought its was gilt, but apparently it is gold. So I guess it’s a wash.

The following pins (shell cameo and pink crystal foliate brooch) are probably Edwardian and Victorian, respectively, and are pure costume.


And finally, this long chain with an opal slide is low carat gold and probably dates from the 1910s.
