Fix It Week: Navajo Rug Pillow

image

When we first moved into the new place, I posted about several repair projects, including a plan to reweave my Navajo rug. It had a big hole in the middle because of years of daily use.

That plan proved to be overly ambitious. Especially as i had given myself a deadline of Oct. 31 to complete my unfinished DIY schemes. So instead I upcycled  the carpet and turned it into a cushion. While it was easier than reweaving, hand sewing through thick wool was physically demanding. My wrists and fingertips are still tender. But I am pleased with the result (even if you can see the stitching — I think it adds character).
